Friend appreciates that some of the provisions in the building regulations designed to safeguard people in the event of fire may make access for the disabled more difficult, but he must have regard to the safety of all those using a building. There is provision for the requirements of the building regulations to be relaxed if they can be shown to operate unreasonably in a particular case, and if the hon. Member has any particular case in mind perhaps he would write to me.
