§ Mr. Alexander Wilsonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) if he will now send a circular to all local authorities in Scotland asking them to step up the building of sheltered housing for elderly and disabled persons;
(2) if he will now request all local authorities in Scotland to compile a register of all disabled persons in need of sheltered housing.
§ Mr. Gordon CampbellEarlier this year I asked local authorities to assess the need in their areas for greater provision of sheltered housing, and recommended that they should plan to provide by the end of 1974 a minimum of 25 places in sheltered houses for each 1,000388W persons aged 65 or over. I am about to review progress, and I will be considering in the course of my review whether more detailed information is needed about the potential demand for sheltered housing. Meanwhile those who wish to have such houses should apply to their local housing authority.
