§ Mr. Simeonsasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what steps he takes to ensure that pensioners and others suffer no hardship in drawing their pensions in areas where sub-post offices are moved or closed.
§ Mr. DeanWhen a sub-post office is moved or closed a pensioner is normally able to make satisfactory alternative arrangements to draw his pension, sometimes by nominating an agent to draw it for him. I should be willing to investigate any case where a pensioner has not been able to make satisfactory arrangements and is suffering hardship.
