§ Mr. Fauldsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why the Uganda Resettlement Board has reversed its previous policy of allowing Ugandan Asian refugees to re-enter the settlement camps, and has now decided that these refugees will not be permitted to re-enter camps once they have been dispersed from them.
§ Mr. R. CarrIt has been made clear from the beginning that the resettlement centres were only intended to provide temporary accommodation. The board has taken the view that it would not normally be desirable for families who have joined the general community to return to the centres, although it has made it clear always that exceptional circumstances will always be considered on compassionate grounds.
§ Mr. Powellasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will estimate what proportion of the Uganda Asian heads of families admitted in the present emergency were born in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, respectively.
