§ Mr. Joel Barnettasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will review the operation of the Act regarding part-time employment of schoolchildren whereby 15-year-old schoolboys may not do part-time work in a shop, whereas newspaper deliveries by schoolchildren are allowed, with a view to proposing amendment of the Act.
§ Mr. AlisonThe statutory minimum age for part-time employment in a shop is 13, as it is for newspaper delivery and other forms of non-industrial employment; but the employment of schoolchildren in particular occupations may be prohibited locally by byelaw.
