§ Mr. Alan Williamsasked the Secretary of State for Wales how many applications there were in Wales in 1970, 1971 and to the latest available date in 1972, respectively, to extinguish common rights over land and seeking his approval under the provisions of Section 194(3)(b) of the Law of Property Act, 1925.
§ Mr. Peter ThomasThe numbers of applications made under section 194(3)(b) is as follows:
1970 Three. 1971 One. 1972 (to 1st November, 1972 Nil. My consent is required under the provisions of Section 194 to the construction of works on common land, and my approval is necessary to any county or county borough council resolution where the commoners have agreed to the extinguishment of their rights. But extinguishment as such is a matter for the commoners themselves and does not require my consent.
