§ Mr. McCrindleasked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many prosecutions under the Deposit of Poisonous Waste Act, 1972, have so far been brought: and what is the number of cases of dumping contrary to the Act which have not been pursued because those responsible have not been traceable.
34W
§ Mr. Eldon GriffithsStatistics relating to England and Wales for 1972 have not yet been collated and I regret that the information requested in the second part of the Question is not available. There has been a marked reduction in the number of reported dumping incidents since the passage of the Act, containing as it does severe deterrent penalties.
