§ Mr. Alexander W. Lyonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, in view of the attempts to obtain support for lotteries overseas which are being posted in this country, whether he will introduce legislation to prohibit such activity.
§ Mr. CarlisleSection 42 of the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act, 1963, already creates a number of offences intended to prevent any form of promotion of an overseas lottery in this country. These provisions cannot be applied when the persons responsible are outside the jurisdiction of our courts. Representations are, however, made, where appropriate, to overseas Governments.
