European participation in the post-Apollo programme is one of the questions which will be discussed at the informal ministerial meeting of the European Space Conference due to be held in Paris on 8th and 9th November. My hon. Friend the

These figures include both store and fat animals as separate figures are not available in all cases. The figures for pigs and calves also include animals for breeding. The export of animals for slaughter to European countries outside the EEC is not allowed.

My Department's veterinary inspectors check to ensure that animals exported for slaughter are rested for at least 10 hours in approved lairage prior to shipment, and they examine them in these lairages Minister for Aerospace and Shipping will be attending this meeting. I have co plans for separate discussions of this question.
