The figures for pigs and calves also include animals for breeding. The export of animals for slaughter to European countries outside the EEC is not allowed.
My Department's veterinary inspectors check to ensure that animals exported for slaughter are rested for at least 10 hours in approved lairage prior to shipment, and they examine them in these lairages 142W Minister for Aerospace and Shipping will be attending this meeting. I have co plans for separate discussions of this question.
