HC Deb 06 November 1972 vol 845 c48W
Mr. Donald Stewart

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what proportion of the current price of petrol is attributable to royalties, taxes and other payments imposed by petroleum exporting countries.

Mr. Emery

On average the royalties and taxes etc. imposed by petroleum exporting countries represent between 50 per cent. and 60 per cent. of the landed price of crude oil in the United Kingdom. Petrol prices are about 10–12 times the price of crude.
