§ Mr. Dodds-Parkerasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what steps are taken when approval is given to the provision of Government financial support for the construction of new industrial buildings to ensure that so far as possible they are built of materials with an inherently high fire resistance.
§ Mr. Anthony GrantPart E of the Building Regulations, 1972, requires structural precautions against fire when buildings are erected. The principles of these mandatory requirements are well known. In providing financial support for the construction of new buildings I do not consider that an additional check to ensure that these requirements are being, met should be imposed by my Department.
