§ 56. Mr. William Hamiltonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will seek to introduce amending legislation to ensure that persons who commit criminal offences such as dangerous driving may be brought to trial even after the lapse of six months from the date of the offence.
§ Mr. CarlisleNo such legislation is necessary in relation to the offence of reckless or dangerous driving, since this is triable either on indictment or summarily, and in the former case—subject to the requirements of Section 179 of the Road Traffic Act, 1972—the six months' time limit does not apply.
