§ Mr. Denzil Daviesasked the Minister for the Civil Service what is his estimate of an effective rate of Community tax per cent. paid by an official or servant of the European Communities in respect of an income of £5,000, £8,000 and £15,000, respectively, on the assumption that each official or servant received no allowances other than a head of household allowance and an allowance for two dependent children.
§ Mr. Kenneth BakerOfficials and servants of the European Communities would normally receive other allowances as well as those referred to, but I estimate that the effective rates of tax in the family circumstances stated, expressed as percentages of basic salary plus family allowances, are 4.3 per cent., 8.38 per cent. and 19.6 per cent., respectively.
