On 18th May the High Commissioner asked the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry for information. The Permanent Secretary stated that Mr. Clerk was not being held by any Ugandan authorities. On 23rd May, the High Commissioner saw the Minister of Foreign Affairs and pressed on him the importance of full and urgent investigations.
