§ Miss Devlinasked the Attorney-General whether he will refer to The Director of Public Prosecutions for Northern Ireland details of the Army and Royal Ulster Constabulary personnel who were involved in special questioning 481W techniques described in the Compton Report and declared to be contrary to the law in the Parker Committee Report, with a view to criminal prosecutions.
§ The Attorney-GeneralThe interrogation methods to which the hon. Member refers have been fully described in the Compton and Parker Reports, which have been widely published. A number of civil claims in respect of these matters are now pending. I do not intend to institute any criminal proceedings.
