§ Mr. Martenasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what export restrictions for scrap steel are now being proposed, or are under discussion, in the event of Great Britain joining the Common Market and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. NobleArticle 43 of the Treaty of Accession will allow the United Kingdom to retain restrictions on ferrous scrap exports to Member countries of the enlarged EEC for up to two years from January, 1973. We are consulting steelmakers, merchants and other parties affected at present and no decision has yet been taken.
