HC Deb 24 May 1972 vol 837 c416W
Mr. Marten

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is the import levy on a ton of wheat; what it will be at the end of the transitional period if Great Britain enters the European Economic Community; and what effect this will have on the price of flour and products made therefrom.

Mr. Anthony Stodart

The prospective rate of levy on imports of milling wheat shipped in May is at present £7.50 per ton. That which will apply at the end of the transitional period following entry to the EEC cannot be predicted at this stage, as it will derive from world prices five years hence.
