HC Deb 24 May 1972 vol 837 cc413-4W
Mr. McNamara

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he will appoint an inquiry into the abandoning of the British stern trawler "Ranger Ajax".

Dame Irene Ward

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he will make a report on the accident to the fishing trawler "Ajax" based on North Shields; and whether the owner, Mr. John Purdy, has made any representations for action from his Department.

Mr. Noble

I have already appointed a senior engineer surveyor from my Department to carry out a preliminary inquiry into this casualty and will urgently consider his report when it is received. I have received no representations from the owner about the casualty.
