HC Deb 24 May 1972 vol 837 c393W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment for how long the inspector dealing with the planning appeal of Mr. Jack Swift was indisposed; when the indisposition took place; and why the appeal took from 28th May, 1971, until 6th January, 1972, before the commencement of the hearing; and how long it was after the return to duty of the inspector that his report was submitted to him for decision.

Mr. Peter Walker

The arrangements for a day convenient to the parties and the inspector for the commencement of the hearing on 6th January, 1972, were completed by 20th October, 1971. The inspector was indisposed for several days in November and fell behind with other reports. After the hearing on 6th and 7th January, 1972, he had to complete other accumulated work in addition to this report, which was submitted on 20th April.
