HC Deb 24 May 1972 vol 837 cc410-1W
Mr. David Stoddart

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will make a statement as to the circumstances in which Mrs. K. Wildy, of 56 Tavanagh Street, Belfast, was denied protection or safe conduct on the evening of Saturday. 13th May, in the face of a riotous assembly around her home.

Mr. Channon

Mrs. Wildy was not denied protection on the evening of Saturday, 13th May. At 11.55 on that evening a report was received that windows had been broken at 56 Tavanagh Street, whereupon two police officers went there immediately. They contacted Mrs. Wildy's son and although the immediate area was quiet at the time remained with Mrs. Wildy for about an hour until they were detailed for other urgent duties elsewhere.
