HC Deb 24 May 1972 vol 837 c413W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, in view of the fact that trade discussions between the German Democratic Republic and France take place at ministerial level, if he will now adopt this practice for the United Kingdom; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Noble

I am not aware that discussions with France take place at the level sugegsted by the hon. Member. I am satisfied that our own arrangements are adequate.

Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if, in view of the fact that the French Government has supported an exhibition of goods of the German Democratic Republic, he will do the same.

Mr. Noble

If the East German authorities wish to participate in any trade exhibition held in the United Kingdom, there is no objection to their doing so.
