HC Deb 24 May 1972 vol 837 c383W
64. Mr. Gardner

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment to what extent it is his policy to delay the start of the Central Lancashire new town project until there has been a substantial revival of the prosperity of the towns in North East Lancashire.

Mr. Amery

North-East Lancashire stands to gain greatly from the new town and I do not intend to delay it in any way. I look forward none the less to revived prosperity in the North-East Lancashire towns well before the new town can have had time to make its beneficial impact.
