asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, what is the extent of carcinogenic hazard which the Veterinary Products Committtee have assessed in the advice tendered to him in the use of hormones in food given to calves and other farm animals; when he will announce his decision on the banning of injectable oestrogens; and if he will make a statement.

As regards the first part of the Question, I have nothing to add to the reply I gave the hon. Member on 16th May.—[Vol. 387, c.50.]

My Department is now considering, in consultation with the Department of Health and Social Security, the implementation of the recommendations of the Veterinary Products Committee in regard to injectable preparations of oestrogens. Our conclusions will be announced as soon as possible.
