What additional subvention to the Govan Shipyard, if any, is contemplated in connection with a proposal that it should be taken over by an American Company.

The Marathon Manufacturing Company's proposal to acquire the Clydebank Yard of U.C.S., Limited, to build mobile drilling platforms is completely independent of the Govan Shipbuilders, Limited, project which will take place in the other three yards of U.C.S., Ltd. The extent and terms of the assistance offered to Marathon have been determined in accordance with the established criteria of the Local Employment Act Financial Advisory Committee, and are, as in all such cases, a matter of commercial confidence. Marathon will also qualify for the grants described in the White Paper on,Industrial and Regional Development.
