HC Deb 08 May 1972 vol 836 c295W
Mr. Rowlands

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many new jobs will be created by the establishment of the value added tax office at Merthyr Tydfil; how many of these will be available to those registered as unemployed in the Merthyr employment area; and what area will be served by the new office.

Mr. Higgins:

I have been asked to reply.

It is provisionally estimated that 15 staff will be employed in the Customs and Excise VAT office in Merthyr Tydvil. Most of these will be at executive officer level or above; and will be recruited on a national basis. The office will serve Merthyr Tydvil, Aberdare and Brecon and surrounding areas.
