HC Deb 04 May 1972 vol 836 c214W
Mr. Biffen

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if it is the policy of the Government to underwrite damages claimed from the British Overseas Airways Corporation as a result of supersonic flights over foreign territories; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Michael Heseltine

No. On the subject of supersonic flying over foreign countries I have nothing to add to the information I gave the House on 17th April last.—[Vol. 835, c. 13–14.]

Mr. Biffen

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if, in view of the £25.000 compensation that had to be paid for damages following 20 supersonic flights by Concorde along the Irish Sea, he will prohibit commercial supersonic flights over Great Britain.

Mr. Michael Heseltine

I have nothing to add to the reply given to my hon. Friend the Member for Cannock (Mr. Cormack) on 14th February.—[Vol. 831, c.16.]
