§ 32. Mr. John Smithasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the expenditure for the last convenient year on house improvement grants in Scotland.
§ Mr. Younger:In 1971, local authorities in Scotland paid grants of nearly £3 million to private owners, and improvements of public sector houses costing about £4 million were approved for grant. The amount of annual Government contributions depends on whether the completed works attract the provisions of the Housing Act, 1971.
