asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will provide figures showing which local authorities in Scotland have provided special housing for the elderly.

Mr. Gordon Campbell:

Most local authorities have provided some form of special housing for the elderly in their building programmes, and I understand that the authorities listed below have pro- vided sheltered type housing, which is particularly suitable for many elderly people:

County Councils

  • Aberdeen.
  • Caithness.
  • Clackmannan.
  • Dunbarton.
  • Inverness.
  • Ross and Cromarty.
  • Stirling.

City Councils

  • Aberdeen.
  • Dundee.
  • Glasgow.

Large Burgh Councils

  • Ayr.
  • Coatbridge.
  • Dumfries.
  • Greenock.
  • Kirkcaldy.
  • Paisley.

Small Burgh Councils

  • Brechin.
  • Cowdenbeath.
  • Fraserburgh.
  • Hawick.
  • Inverurie.
  • Johnston.
  • Kilwinning.
