§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will cause an investigation to be made to ascertain how and why the North Middlesex Hospital, Silver Street, Edmonton, failed to reply to two letters and a telephone call from the hon. Member for West Ham, North, and that when the Chairman of the North-East Metropolitan Hospital Board was approached on two occasions no action was taken; and whether he will ensure that action is taken to prevent such happenings in the future.
§ Mr. Alison:I understand from the board that the hon. Member has now received a reply to his letters to the hospital. There were particular circumstances which delayed the reply and the board is satisfied that the hospital is conscious of the need to deal with correspondence quickly.
