HC Deb 02 May 1972 vol 836 c80W
62. Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will seek to amend the Industrial Relations Act in order that organisations of workers can be described as trade unions whether registered or not.

Mr. Maurice Macmillan:

No. Such an amendment would effectively nullify the object of registration under the Act.

68. Mr. Golding

asked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he will list those trade unions who have taken decisions not to register under the Industrial Relations Act.

Mr. Maurice Macmillan:

No. My Department does not have comprehensive information about the decisions which trade unions take with regard to registration.
