§ Mr. Brayasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what was the total value of sales of footwear in each of the five years to 31st December, 1971, and the percentage of the market enjoyed by British manufacturers.
§ Mr. Anthony Grant:Estimates of the value of total sales of footwear in the United Kingdom—namely, production plus imports less exports—are available only for 1968 and 1971. In these years total sales were £232 million and £312 million, of which retained home production accounted for 86 per cent. and 83 per cent. respectively.
