Mr. Goronwy Robertsasked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will institute an inquiry into the present state and potential of the Welsh slate industry, particularly with a view to utilisation of slate waste for road-surfacing and other purposes and the consequent clearance of sites for housing, industrial and recreational purposes.
§ Mr. Peter ThomasThe problems and potential of the industry are already sufficiently well understood and I do not think that an inquiry would be helpful.
