§ Mr. DeanThe council's functions under the National Insurance (Industrial Injuries) Act are to advise my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State on proposals for regulations, and on questions relating to the Act which he may refer to it. On such questions the council's practice is to invite evidence from interested persons and organisations. In addition, the council may make recommendations on its own initiative to my right hon. Friend in relation to the schedule of prescribed diseases. In this connection it is open to56W the council to consider representations from outside bodies. I have no doubt that all the functions of the council are being satisfactorily performed.
