HC Deb 14 March 1972 vol 833 cc74-5W
Mr. Eadie

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how many joint studies public undertakings in Great Britain have undertaken with the French Atomic Energy Agency; what they are; and what technical advice Her Majesty's Government have given.

Mr. Corfield

Bilateral arrangements for exchanges of information and international co-operation through, for example, the International Atomic Energy Agency and the European Nuclear Energy Agency, have given rise over the years to a number of studies and experiments on specific topics undertaken jointly by the French Commissariat for Atomic Energy and United Kingdom bodies concerned with nuclear matters. Current examples are economics of building a large gaseous diffusion enrichment plant in Europe, graphite coolant chemistry and fast reactor safety.

No technical advice has been given by Her Majesty's Government in any of these cases.
