§ 68. Sir G. de Freitasasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he is aware that in Austria, Belgium, the German Federal Republic, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Switzerland, Turkey and Yugoslavia, motorists are required to display red warning triangles in case of an accident or breakdown; and what consideration he has given to having similar requirements in Great Britain.
§ Mr. Eldon GriffithsMy Department's studies have shown the four-way flasher to be more effective than the warning triangle. I am awaiting the outcome of discussions within Europe before making a decision on a mandatory requirement.
