In the English new towns the numbers of development corporation and commission houses empty for all management reasons, including let but not occupied, under offer, undergoing repair or available for letting or sale at 31st December, 1970, and 31st December, 1971, were 3,561 and 4,368, respectively. They represented 2.8 per cent. and 3.1 per cent. of the total stock.
