Mr. Orbach

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the present position with regard to the use of beds in existing hospitals; and what new hospital building is contemplated in the near future within the catchment area of the Stockport and Buxton Hospital Group.

Mr. Alison

A number of changes have been made recently to improve the service, but there are at present no further plans for significant changes in the uses to which beds in existing hospitals are put. asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many geriatric beds there are in hospitals under the control of the Stockport and Buxton Group Hospitals Management Committee; and what was the waiting list for geriatric beds in the same catchment area, at the latest available date.
