§ 30. Mr. Meacherasked the Secretary of State for Employment what has been the percentage increase in national average earnings above their 1960 level up to the latest date for which information is available; and what has been the corresponding percentage increase over the same period in the index of retail prices and in the lowest decile of earnings.
§ Mr. BryanThe latest information about the lowest decile of earnings relates to April, 1971. Between October, 1960, and April, 1971, the average earnings of full-time manual men in manufacturing industries increased by 101 per cent., the lowest decile of their earnings increased by 101 per cent. and the index of retail prices increased by 60.5 per cent.
