Mr. Dalyell

asked the Prime Minister which Department is responsible for formulating a reply to the United States offer of British participation in the post-Apollo programme; and if he will make a statement.

I have been asked to reply.

My Department is leading for the United Kingdom in the discussions on the post-Apollo programme at the European Space Conference. The E.S.C. will be making a collective reply to the United States in accordance with the latter's expressed preference when offering participation to European countries.
