§ 40. Mr. William Hamiltonasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement on the effects which the Industrial Relations Act has had to date on industrial relations generally.

CarrIt is too early to judge the effect of provisions, many of which have been in operation only a few days, but there is no doubt that the Act and the Code of Practice have already caused both management and unions, and others concerned with industrial relations, to review thoroughly their procedures and practices and see how they can be improved.
§ 44. Mr. Redmondasked the Secretary of State for Employment what representations have been made to him on the subject of Part V of the Industrial Relations Act, 1971.
§ Mr. Dudley SmithA number of inquiries have been received about the effect of these provisions, which came into force on 28th February, and how they might have applied in circumstances such as those of the recent coalmining strike.
