§ 31. Mr. Harold Walkerasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will take steps to ensure that the identity of witnesses is not disclosed when children are called upon to give evidence against persons accused of crimes of violence.
§ Mr. CarlisleThe law already contains provisions protecting child witnesses from newspaper publicity. My right hon. Friend is aware of a case that has caused concern to the hon. Member, and he will keep the position under review; but, on the information at present before him, he is not persuaded that wider safeguards are called for.
