§ Mr. Loveridgeasked the Minister of State for Defence if he will provide an estimate of the costs of insuring members of the Armed Services, and auxiliary services, against death by accident whilst on duty in the sum of £10,000 for each life lost.
§ Lord BalnielI cannot provide a useful estimate of the costs of insuring members of the Armed Forces against death by accident on duty because the range of duties undertaken by Servicemen is too wide, and the circumstances of accidental death are too varied, to allow an estimate to be made without a good deal of study.
