§ 60. Sir G. Sinclairasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement on the control of night jet flights at Gatwick for the summer season 1973.
§ Mr. Michael HeseltineAfter full discussion with the Consultative Committee for Gatwick Airport and with representatives of the airlines, I have decided that the number of night movements by jet aircraft at Gatwick during the 1973 summer season will be limited to 3,950; this compares with a figure of 4,950 in 1972. The planned overslabbing of the runway may result in the actual number of night jet movements in 1973 being substantially less than the permitted maximum.
