Mr. Alec Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) how many of the 182,000 men in May, 1972, who had exhausted their unemployment benefit were receiving supplementary allowances;

(2) how many men were on the books of his Department at the most recent date who had exhausted their right to unemployment benefit; and how many were receiving supplementary allowances.

On 1st May, 1972, the number was 139,000.
