How many individual drill halls, rifle ranges and other property owned by or in use by the Territorial Army before the reorganisation of units in 1967 and of Territorial Army associations in 1968 had been sold up to March 31, 1972, and what is the total value of any such sales..

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR DEFENCE (LORD CARRINGTON)

The number of drill halls sold since the reorganisation of the Territorial Army in 1967 up to March 31, 1972, was 527, and the number of rifle ranges sold was five. The total value of these sales and of the sales of other properties, including married quarters, was about £10.5 million. In addition, 214 drill halls have been returned to their owners or transferred to the Regular Forces or to other Government Departments, and the leases of 48 ranges have not been renewed.
