§ Mr. Knoxasked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many local authorities do, and do not, exercise their right to sell council houses to sitting tenants.
§ Mr. Gordon CampbellSince March of this year, local authorities have been free, subject to the terms of a general consent, to sell their houses to sitting tenants without reference to the Secretary of State, and up-to-date particulars are therefore not available. Up to March, 51 local authorities had sought the Secretary of State's consent.
