§ Mr. Biffenasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will seek powers to make membership of the chambers of commerce compulsory in line with the recent recommendation of Mr. Robin Brook, President of the London Chamber of Commerce, a copy of which is in his possession.
§ Mr. NobleAll aspects of industrial representation in the United Kingdom are currently under review by an independent commission sponsored jointly by the Association of British Chambers of Commerce and the Confederation of British Industry. I intend to await the outcome of this review before considering the question of additional powers.
