§ Mr. Proudfootasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what has been the expenditure on main road improvement in the West Riding of Yorkshire in each year from 1966 to 1971, inclusive; and how much he anticipates spending on such improvement during the next two financial years.
§ Mr. SpeedExpenditure on the provision of new and improved trunk and principal roads in the county was as follows:

Major trunk and principal road schemes in the West Riding estimated to cost in all £128 million are under construction or due to start by the end of 1973. A further £50 million worth are programmed to start after that date. In addition, major schemes to a total value of £176 million are in preparation.
