§ Mr. Nicholas Edwardsasked the Secretary of State for Employment what were the numbers of men, boys, women and girls placed in employment by employment exchanges in Pembrokeshire in the months January to May, 1972, together with the numbers of new claims for benefit made in the same period and the number of unfilled vacancies.
§ Mr. Dudley SmithStatistics of placings of men and women made by employment exchanges are available only for quarterly periods. Between 2nd December, 1971, and 8th March, 1972, the numbers of placings made by employment exchanges and careers offices in Pembrokeshire were 1,581 men, 87 boys, 170 women and 83 girls. The numbers of new claims for benefit made in the same period were 1,429 by men, 104 by boys, 344 by women and 95 by girls.
At 8th March the numbers of notified vacancies remaining unfilled in Pembrokeshire were 163 for men, 14 for boys, 48 for women and nine for girls. The 387W vacancy statistics relate only to notified vacancies remaining unfilled and do not purport to measure the total unsatisfied demand for labour and the placings statistics exclude engagements of workpeople made by employers without the assistance of employment exchanges and youth employment service careers offices.
