Mr. Pentlandasked the Minister for the Civil Service if, in view of the decision to stop the establishment of an Inland Revenue Computer Centre at Washington New Town, County Durham, he will state the action he proposes to take to ensure that a new Government Department is established in his area.
§ Mr. Kenneth BakerThe issue is being considered as the North East is being studied along with other areas as part of the current dispersal review. We expect to receive recommendations later this year. Decisions on the location of work to be dispersed will be announced as soon as possible thereafter.
